I was one of the many travelers out last evening after work. I stayed late at work to finish up something and boy was it a mistake. My normal commute time from home (So Ogden) to work (Layton) is 20 minutes. Some times it can go as long as 30, in heavy traffic, but last night was a huge exception.
I left work at 5:30 pm and immediately hit traffic on the main road out. It was still snowing and the roads were covered and packed down. Traffic was bumper to bumper and going about 5-10 miles an hour. After staying on one road (Hwy 193) for an hour and only going about 2 miles I was frustrated. I now know how the commuters in NY and LA feel. OH MY GOSH!!!! After traveling only about another half mile in another 30 minutes I gave up. Thank goodness Windy lives close to where I work because I just stayed at her house. I heard worse stories than mine this morning so I am glad I was lucky enough to not have to stress any more after the hour and a half.
I plan to leave early today from work so I don't have to be out at 4 pm when the snow starts again.
Good luck out there Utahans and BE SAFE!!!
