5k Update

Ok so I don't know if you are getting sick of these but I really think that if I didn't do them I would just give up and no one would care. So I pretend like if I didn't write these then everyone would ask me and I would have to be embarrased because I gave up. So no giving up!!

I ran today because I couldn't run last night because I was out on a triple date with Windy, Matt, Carrie, David and my wonderful hubby. We went and saw Get Smart (Which if you read Carrie's Blog sums it up).

SO I ran tonight and found that even at 9 pm my neighbors are out and they made it really hard to run unnoticed. At first I saw a woman that I work with, walking while I was puffing up my hill (1st mile). Then when I reached the top of the hill (2nd mile) I saw my upstairs neighbors (Jordan and Heidi). Ugh I hate running when I think people will see me. But I still ran like a champ. I finished my three miles in 45 min. Hopefully I will speed that up.

Get out and LIVE!!

Date Night with the Kids

Last night was our first official kid date night of the year.
Steve took Julia to see the movie Wall-E and from what I hear they had a good time. Julia enjoyed the movie and loved getting one on one attention from her Daddy. Here they are out in front of the theater.

Connor and I went to the ever so much fun Splash Pad. I got some dinner which of course he didn't eat because all he could look at was the water. He loves to run through it and then back up to the really splashy stuff to get wet. Then we went and got ice cream and I figure with the squeals and full tummy he had a great time.

5K Update

So after we put the kids to bed last night and I did a little book reading (I am reading the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer) I decided to run. I wasn't feeling well on Monday so I missed my run and was feeling a little anxious about running my extended time this week. I ran the first two while I was listening to my audio book and it flew by, I was under my 30 minutes by the time I was finished with my 2nd mile and was feeling great as I started my new 15 min extension. About half way through (8 min in) I started feeling the burn but kept going and by the time I was finished with my extra 15 minutes I had run 3 miles! I was so excited!! I have a little over 2 months left and at this rate I will be ready in no time. Yeah for me!!!!!

South Ogden's Splash Pad

I took the kids to the Splash Pad and it turned out to be really fun. It wasn't very busy at all and they had lots of fun. I think every city should have one of these. It is free and really fun for the little ones, even not so little ones.

5k Update

Hooray for me!! Today I did it. I ran my first two miles without stopping. I wanted to go more but since this was my first time doing it I called Steve the last little bit and asked him for his advice and he said I should leave it at the two and then next week go a little further. I was so happy I text-ed Windy and Sam just to share it with somebody else and now I am blogging it. I am getting really pumped. This is the closest I have ever been to actually doing the 5k.

And the Daughter of the Year Award goes to...

...somebody else. Not me! I have two men in my life that I have as father figures. My real Dad in Watauga Texas and my Step-Dad here in Utah. I forgot to call both of them on Fathers day. Worst of all I told my real dad that I would call him the Friday before and still forgot. Daddy and Gary I am so sorry but I do love you. I am sure of all the things I have done wrong in my life this is probably the least but I want you both to know that I am sorry. :)~ Oh and Steve forgot to call his Dad too so he lost the award as well. We both stink!

To the famous Dad's in our lives!

Steve Ludlow -- The wonderful father of my children. God Bless him for he puts up with a lot.

Gary Cole -- or should I say Saint Cole for we all know he put up with raising me and that is saintly because he didn't kill me.

Noel Dempsey -- The cool Grand-Daddy, who spends most of his free time traveling up here to spend time with his grand-kids even when they forget to call him on Fathers day!

Robert Ludlow -- Grandpa Rob! We love you and are so proud that you are doing well. Steve's Dad is doing great in the home and we look forward to visiting him in July!

My 5K Goal

Ever since I worked in SLC for Marriott I had, had a goal to run the SLC 5K that they have every Spring for the Race for the Cure. I have been too heavy to even attempt it but finally this spring I feel like I can run a 5K so I have started running and eating better and have a goal to run a 5K in September. I started last week and am up to two miles now and feel great about it. I have asked a lot of friends for advice so if anyone has any great advice let me have it. Right now I am taking it really slow (I run 8 minutes, walk 7, run 8 and then walk 7) it is a good pace for me. I will do that this week (mon, wed & fri) then next week I will try to run the whole two miles and see how I do. I plan on doing that for two weeks and then adding more distance. I am so excited for this, it seems like it might be a reality very soon.

Family Hike does not always go the way we want

It was hot the kids were not happy, I was not happy and poor Steve had to suffer through it. I picked a new trail that was a lot easier for Connor but I think he was just not having any of it. We didn't make it but a quarter of the way through and when Julia complained for the 1500th time that she had to go #2 we turned around and headed back. That is ok, we will get further next time, I am still looking for that backpack for Connor so I can just carry him. See you on the trails.
We saw this little guy a few yards in and it was about the only thing that made Connor giggle.

Aren't we all just soooo happy to be here!!

Here is Julia playing her made up game of "Baby Attacktion". It is where she gets Connor to chase her and growl at her until he catches her. It worked for a few times then he was grumpy again.

A happier and cooler Julia listening to her new iPod that she got from her favorite Un-Aunt Sammie. An unhappy Connor who even though we were in the car was still mad because he wasn't getting the camera.

After the not so hikey hike we went to this burger place on Harrison called Big Jim's Burgers because we pass it all the time and thought it looked good (like Crown Burgers or Grideli's) and the menu was like it but I really didn't like it. I would much rather go to Grideli's or Crown Burger.

Julia's New Do

This was the before. She had longer hair and her bangs were cut so that they were just above her eyes.
This is the after. She looked in a magazine at Dollar Cuts and found the picture she wanted to have her hair like and so she is going to grow her bangs out and keep it bobbed. She is beautiful, isn't she!
Until her bangs grow out I bought her some new barrettes to wear so she can keep them out of her face. She is so girlie!

3rd and Final attempt at Strong Canyon Trail

Ok not the most flattering shot of me but the men sure are handsome. This is the rock that the kids love to get to. It is only about 10 minutes into the hike. Julia took this picture.
Connor took this one! :)
Julia pointing at some cool looking moss. You can't see it but she thought it looked cool.
Taking a break (about 15 minutes in).
This is really steep for little legs. This is the spot we made it to last time and then Connor was done. We got to the top of this rise and he was done. But I was determined and so was Julia so Connor was carried the rest of the way. We need one of those backpack things for him. He is heavy!!
We did it. You can't see this very well but it is at the finish of our trail (and the start of the next) and after this shot we headed back down and got drenched in hail and rain. But we did it and we feel it! :) Good job family! Get out and live!!
